Partners, Friends and Funders

We would like to take this opportunity to publicly thank our partners, funders and friends for their support this year. It has been a difficult couple of years for a small charity such as ours and at several moments we felt we were unable to carry on. However, with the support from all the people and organisations below, we have survived the storm and now stand steady, ready to continue working with Harlow’s young people and ready to respond to our town's needs. Thank you.

- Sam Ashford, Creative Director
Burnt Mill Academy

Burnt Mill Academy have shown their continued support for ‘Livewire’. In particular, their generosity in donating the highest standard performance space and equipment for use in both the Summer and Easter ‘Theatre Challenge’ weeks.

The Jack Petchey Foundation

Without the support of The Jack Petchey Foundation we would not be here today. We have taken advantage of the excellent achievement awards scheme which has been a very rewarding experience for our young people. We would like to thank Nikki Casey, in particular, for her firm support and encouragement which drove our fundraising efforts forward so we are more able to source funding and eventually be self-sufficient.

The Essex Community Foundation

A large amount of our delivery earlier in the academic year came from the ‘Essex Community Fund’. We were able to reach many more young people across the town and have been able to increase our capacity as a result of this grant.

The National Lottery, Big Lottery Fund

Our biggest project of the year was funded by the Big Lottery and saw Livewire deliver Interactive Theatre workshops, delivered by our young people, to year 6 groups around Harlow dealing with the complex issues surrounding ‘Cultural Diversity’. We were also able to devise an hour long play with live music, original drama and dance that brought together all of the issues from our schools tour.

The Foyle Foundation

During the Summer we ran a number of events and activities. The Foyle Foundation made it possible to run two of our Theatre Challenge weeks where we worked with over 100 young people devising and performing original, issue based theatre. The amount of young people and the quality of staff that we could work with was directly influenced by this grant award.

Harlow Primary Schools

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank all of the primary schools in Harlow who agree to have us in and trust us enough to work with their young people on some very serious and challenging issues. Without their support and interest we would have no one to take our schools tour to and it means a great deal for us to be able to work with such wonderful, exciting, creative and honest young people. In particular we would like to thank Hare Street Primary School and Katherines Primary School for allowing us to develop new workshops and performances with their young people and commissioning us to work in their schools on new issues such as ‘Cultural Diversity’ (which went on to be a whole schools tour) and ‘Cyber Bullying’ (which will hopefully be next years).

The Square

And, of course, a very special Thank you to The Square for their continued support with providing an excellent performance and fund raising space for Livewire.

Harlow Rock School

And who can forget our friends at Harlow Rock School, our mutual support is crucial to our survival and we hope this special relationship continues for many years to come.
